Description Alexandru Georgescu 2013-01-08 15:53:14 UTC
ENVIRONMENT USED: Ubuntu 12.10 64bit
Branch: denzil
commit: 1d05505e0653aa70f7e38239951b4e19ce0438e1
Autobuilder: http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/nightly/20130105-1

toolchain: http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/nightly/20130105-1/toolchain/x86_64/poky-eglibc-x86_64-i586-toolchain-gmae-1.2.2.tar.bz2

qemux86: http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/nightly/20130105-1/machines/qemu/qemux86/core-image-sato-sdk-qemux86-20130105014903.rootfs.tar.bz2

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Install the x86 standalone toolchain
2. Configure Eclipse Indigo with 1.2 Eclipse plugin.
3. Install the standalone i586 toolchain.
3. Download and extract qemux86.

In Eclipse:

4. Configure Eclipse Yocto Project ADT settings with the toolchain, and qemu paths.
5. Create a new Clutter C or C++ project
6. Reconfigure project.
7. Build Project.
8. Run the project:
Run->Run Configurations (make sure a TCF connection is available for connecting to QEMU).

In Run Configurations Window:

9. Enter "Remote Absolute File Path for C/C++ Application"
10. for "Commands to execute before application" enter: $ export DISPLAY=:0.0
11. Press "Run"

EXPECTED RESULTS:
11. The clutter application is deployed to the qemux86 image and it runs correctly

ACTUAL RESULTS:
11. The following error output appears in Eclipse:

echo $PWD'>'
export DISPLAY=:0.0;/home/root/j2;exit
root@qemux86:/# echo $PWD'>
'
/>
root@qemux86:/# export DISPLAY=:0.0;/home/root/
j2;exit

Comment 1 Scott Garman 2013-01-10 05:06:44 UTC
I've consulted with Ross Burton on this and he has pointed out that this is due to GL passthrough being broken in QEMU. It's the reason that GL-passthrough has been disabled in danny and later releases.

This is a no-win situation - it is possible to remove qemugl support and fall back to software rendering, but the Mesa software renderer in denzil doesn't support enough GL for clutter to work, either.

Addressing this issue is outside the scope of what we can accomplish in a stable point-release that is this old. Someone from the community will have to take up this issue if it is deemed critical. As such I am marking this as WONTFIX.

Thanks Scott for the clarification.
I've set it to Verified, Wontfix
