The log says "See `config.log' for more details." Could you include the failed config.log please?

With the error:

cc1: error: unrecognized command line option '-mx32'

Which tests are you running for this and was x32 designed to run on denzil without the x32 layer? I think later releases of the project removed the need for the layer but this one might need it?

Please add meta-x32 to your bblayers and try this test again, as Richard points out you are not using the correct layer which was still required in 1.2

Added the meta-x32 layer.
The behavior cannot be reproduced.

Sounds like this is NOTABUG then. If the issue can be demonstrated to happen again when using the meta-x32 layer, feel free to reopen this bug.
