Deb packages cannot be installed on arm little-endian architecture.

I'm using yocto 1.4 (poky 8.0).

Example:
root@foobar:~# dpkg -i compat-wireless_2.6.36-r1_arm.deb 
dpkg: error processing compat-wireless_2.6.36-r1_arm.deb (--install):
 package architecture (arm) does not match system (armel)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 compat-wireless_2.6.36-r1_arm.deb

commit that suppose to fix this problem in oe-classic:

This might be resolved with an update to the newer version of APT, please check into this as you do the udpate
