Most of the stap scripts from http://sourceware.org/systemtap/examples/index.html will work using crosstap script from command line but will send Eclispe into non-responding state when run from the plugin. Steps to reproduce: 1. wget http://sourceware.org/systemtap/examples/profiling/sched_switch.stp 2. fill in system tap dialog (metadata, login, path to script) 3. add ' -c "sleep 1" ' in the arguments field 4. launch the script
I think this is related to: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4099
I don't think so. This issue is specific to the Eclipse plugin. When manually running the crosstap script from the terminal everything works fine.
Adrian, Which commit are you using? I have tested with: commit fe336b149552b1f4f24d979c40302653298b98cc Author: Khem Raj <raj.khem@gmail.com> Date: Wed Apr 3 05:11:50 2013 +0000 And it reproduces for me...

I verified and the problem is solved for scripts with a limited running duration. However, for streaming scripts we still have the same issue. See Bug 4270. This might prove a bit more complex.
Verified with eclipse Kepler, on master branch commit 2d1660112e54653f7bb763939d0416472c49fe01 Host Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 Cheers! Andra N.
