Description Belen Barros Pena 2013-04-15 11:15:19 UTC
I should be able to see:

* generic information about a layer: the kind of details shown in the OE metadata index (for example: http://layers.openembedded.org/layerindex/layer/openembedded-core/)

* build-specific information (for example, which recipes were provided by a certain layer)

A complete list of information to be displayed for each layer is TBC.

It looks like we'll be able to provide build-related information about layers: which layers were used, their branch and commit, and through the recipes information (bug 4294) users will be able to see which recipes were provided by which layers.

However, to provide background information about layers (the type of information presented by the OE layer index), we need to match the layers in the host to the layers in the layer index, which is not easy to do. So it seems this will have to wait and will not make it into 1.5.

Layers information

A list of the information we'll be able to provide about layers in the 1.5 release
Comment 3 Belen Barros Pena 2013-07-08 09:29:31 UTC
The build-specific layer information (layer name, branch, commit and location in disk) will be provided as part of the recipes table (bug 4294) and recipe details information (bug 4299). I've updated the "Depends on" field to reflect this.

I've opened a new bug (with milestone "Future") for the layer background information (bug 4823).

Move to M3 as part of milestone reallocation and after discussing with Alex
Comment 5 Belen Barros Pena 2014-02-07 14:17:34 UTC
Changing status to 'in progress implementation', since layer information is shown in:

* recipes table
* recipe details
* built packages table
* built package details
* image information
* installed package details
* configuration
* build dashboard

And most of the above is in progress

Layer information isn't included in build dashboard. May I file a defect? Fine for other parts.

The build dashboard is the page you see when you click on one of the builds. It is supposed to show a list of all layers used in the build, which it does. So we don't need a defect.
