STATUS: FAILED BUILD: dylan:dab237bc6a7679dfeaa981c14736aedc7b04ecb9 ENVIRONMENT: Ubuntu 12.04 X86_64 STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Download poky source and prepare the build environment 2. Set MACHINE to qemuarm in conf/local.conf 3. Remove "x11" from DISTRO_FEATURES in meta/conf/distro/include/default-distrovars.inc, use "directfb" instead of it: DISTRO_FEATURES ?= "alsa argp bluetooth ext2 irda largefile pcmcia usbgadget usbhost wifi xattr nfs zeroconf pci 3g directfb ${DISTRO_FEATURES_LIBC}" 4. Run "bitbake core-image-directfb" to build a directfb image EXPECTED OUTCOME: The directfb image can be built. Actual result: " ERROR: Nothing PROVIDES 'libxft' (but /home/cornel/work/poky/meta/recipes-sato/matchbox-keyboard/matchbox-keyboard_git.bb DEPENDS on or otherwise requires it) ERROR: libxft was skipped: 'x11' not in DISTRO_FEATURES ERROR: Required build target 'matchbox-keyboard' has no buildable providers. Missing or unbuildable dependency chain was: ['matchbox-keyboard', 'libxft'] " Note: can be reproduced by replaxing x11 with directfb in meta/conf/distro/include/default-distrovars.inc and "bitbake matchbox-keyboard"
I just built core-image-directfb for qemux86, qemux86-64, qemuarm without issues... However, I see the behavior you mentioned if building core-image-sato. So, is it possible that you tried to build core-image-sato instead of core-image-directfb? Can you please try again?
Indeed it seems I was building core-image-sato; with core-image-directfb as target the build completes successfully. Setting to invalid as matchbox-keyboard is not required by core-image-directfb.
