There are too many lines in pn-depends.dot, packages-depends.dot and task-depends.dot, which makes the output picture very big and hard to read, for example: 1) bitbake -g core-image-sato 2) dot -Tpng -o pn-depend.png pn-depends.dot Then pn-depend.png would be around 5M, and the size is 32767 * 438 pixes, a very *long* picture. Maybe we can remove the indirect depends to make it more readable, for example: A -> B B -> C A -> C The "A -> C" can be removed/hided We may do it in either of the following way: 1) Enhance "bitbake -g" to remove/hide the indirect depends. Or 2) Add a single script in oe-core/scripts to remove/hide the indirect depends for the dot file.
Command 'tred' from package ghaphviz is used to remove edges implied by transitivity in dot file. See also: http://manned.org/tred/fa776c87 So this feature could be closed.
