we have a script that starts the webhob and django servers with one command

source webhob [start|stop]

this is available in bitbake's bin/ directory
Comment 3 Scott Rifenbark 2013-07-15 06:24:34 UTC
Where do I find this script to start Web Hob? I pulled poky/master and do not see a webhob script in the poky/bitbake directory?

Thanks,
Scott R.

OK - you can ignore my last comment. I found instructions on the wiki on how to run this. I did not realize it was in a contrib branch.

Thanks,
Scott R.

Verified in webhob-poky/master:162c650a8ecaa9415abc167078b34c61b6b7ba3e.

Merged in origin/master and origin/dora-toaster.
Comment 7 Scott Rifenbark 2013-10-21 14:47:56 UTC
Are doc changes required still on this? I removed all the GUI stuff for the 1.5 release so that stuff is out.

I need to review what's in the manual.

It should document the procedure here.

Hi,

I uncommented the information on using Toaster. This section is what was originally in the dev-manual but got pulled for 1.5. Look it over and tell me if it is okay for the next release (1.5.1 or 1.6, whichever one it will go into to.)

Some comments:

1. "Future development includes plans to integrate the data examination features of Toaster with the configuration and build launching capabilities of Hob."

I am not sure this is true: what we plan is to add the configuration and build launching capabilities of Hob to Toaster. As far as I can tell, there are no plans to integrate Hob and Toaster any further (as things stand, you can run a build with Hob and see the information about that build using Toaster).

2. "Be sure your build machine has Django version 1.4 or greater installed."

Alex will need to confirm this, but I believe it needs to be Django 1.4.5. All up-to-date prerequisites and running information is available at

https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Toaster#Installation_and_Running

The section should match the information in that wiki page.

3. Additional files created: it looks like the files listed need to be updated as well to match the wiki page above

4. In the section "5.18.3. Examining Toaster Data" everything after the second paragraph needs to go (it does not apply to the 1.5 release)

Thanks!

Belen,

What about 1.5.1? Your last comment mentioned that everything in 5.18.3 on does not apply to the 1.5 release. Do you mean the whole Dora branch? So, it would also not apply to the upcoming 1.5.1 release?

Sorry, I should have explained better. We are releasing the 1.5 Toaster as a stand alone release. Point releases will include only bug fixes.

The 5.18.3 section will hopefully apply to the 1.6 release.

I hope this makes a bit more sense.

Belen,

I updated both development branches of the dev-guide (1.5.1 and 1.6). They are different and you will need to look at each of them. Here are the links:

http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.5.1/dev-manual/dev-manual.html#examining-builds-using-toaster

http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.6/dev-manual/dev-manual.html#examining-builds-using-toaster

They should be identical except for that section near the end.

Some comments on the 1.5.1 version:

* "You have set up your Source Directory by cloning the upstream poky repository." The Toaster stand alone release will happen in a branch called dora-toaster. That's what people will need to clone:

http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/log/?h=dora-toaster

* "Be sure your build machine has Django version 1.4.5 or greater installed." Alex confirmed today that Toaster is only compatible with Django 1.4.5, so we need to remove the "or greater".

* "Either method opens the home page for the Toaster interface." It might be worth adding a note about how the interface included is this release is just temporary. It was created for testing purposes and the team decided to release it in case it is useful.

* I am missing a link to the wiki page that contains the latest information on how to run Toaster:

https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Toaster#Installation_and_Running

I am hoping this page will be kept up to date, so if any changes happen to the way you run Toaster people will be able to find them there.

* I am also missing information about the REST API, which is the key element of this release. The API specification is available in the wiki:

https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/REST_API_Contracts

Thanks!

Belen,

Is the version of Toaster that will be available with upcoming 1.5.1 release be API and the temporary GUI?

If the version of toaster that releases with 1.5.1 is kept in a branch named 'dora-toaster', the user still needs to clone poky but then they need to checkout the dora-toaster branch correct? I presume they would set things up and run Toaster while in that branch.

Finally, all these things seem very specific to dora... So do I assume that Toaster stuff for 1.6 is really not defined yet?

Thanks,
Scott

Belen,

Please look at http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.5.1/dev-manual/dev-manual.html#examining-builds-using-toaster for a review of the toaster section.

Thanks,

This looks good to me. Thanks, Scott!

Paul, Alex: if you could read it when you have a chance, that would be great. It should only take a couple of minutes.

No comments from anybody, so assuming it's all good. Setting to verified fixed.

Since 1.5.1 has released I guess we win :)
