I tried to build a core-image-sato with IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " imake" in local.conf, but I receive the following error: | Computing transaction...error: Can't install imake-1:1.0.5-r0@i586: no package provides xproto | | Saving cache... | | WARNING: exit code 1 from a shell command. | ERROR: Function failed: do_rootfs (log file is located at /media/ssd1/build/tmp-eglibc/work/qemux86-oe-linux/core-image-sato/1.0-r0/temp/log.do_rootfs.21767) I think the error is caused by xproto, because ${PN} is empty.
I'm wondering if we should continue to have imake, since Xorg no longer seems to need it - only transfig-native seems to depend upon it, and nothing depends on transfig (although both are in packagegroup-toolset-native). Ross, since you like deleting things :) can you figure out if we still really need either of these and if not, move them elsewhere?
We still had imake? 99% sure we can delete it. I'll do more than thinking about it for 20 seconds after France.
Cristiana, why did you need to install imake into an image? Practically nothing uses it these days and anything that does should be considered broken and fixed. I've a series to remove imake from oe-core (already sent a patch to remove a wrong dependency on it in meta-oe, the only reference I can find) assuming Cristiana doesn't have an amazing reason. To be honest, if people still want it, it can move to meta-oe (after the xproto fix).
I just wanted to upgrade the package and I found this bug. I don't have a reason to keep it. (In reply to comment #3) > Cristiana, why did you need to install imake into an image? Great, thanks Cristiana. Removal patches incoming. Closing WONTFIX.
