Description Nitin Kamble 2013-09-04 16:29:59 UTC
Currently mesa.bbappend in meta-intel manipulates the EXTRA_OECONF & DEPENDS vars of the mesa recipe based on the presence of EMGD.

RP suggested that instead of manipulating the EXTRA_OECONF, do_populate_sysroot of the mesa recipe can be changed to avoid issue with EMGD recipe. That way the recipe will not rebuild for a different MACHINE.

I had a couple of attempts to fix this issue. RP had a discussion on this on oecore ML. And finally it is noted that this is quiet complicated to deal in 1.5 release. And more thought process is needed to get this resolved properly in the future.

the new mesa-gl recipe changes the scenario completely. for the mesa rebuild issue. Also there is a patch pending for meta-intel to reduce rebuilding of packages due to separate gl provider, emgd.

commit 49f495e388d986e568f6197075a56a6e7674b2f5

Separate packagedir for GL components of EMGD BSPs

When multiple BSPs of the same arch are built in a build directory,
the differences in GL providers such as emgd-driver and mesa causes
rebuild of large set of recipes, as they collide on each other's space
for multiple BSPs. Although this does not impact correctness, it
    impacts build performance negatively.

Richard had an idea of providing separate PACKAGE_DIR to the
colliding recipes to avoid the build area collision. And this approach
significantly reduces the negative impact on the build performance.
