For all the current meta-intel BSPs that make use of it (crownbay, fri2, sys940x, emenlow, minnow), we need to upgrade the kernel component of the EMGD 1.18 driver so that the driver works again. This will likely be the last such upgrade since we'll soon be able to focus on baytrail and therefore will be able to ignore emgd going forward. Between 3.8, the last time we did such an upgrade, and 3.10, there were some major changes to the internal proc interfaces in the kernel, which emgd relies heavily on. I did a quick set of hacks to work around them temporarily, in order to hopefully get to a working state, but the result only blackscreens at this point. http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/linux-yocto-contrib/log/?h=tzanussi/emgd-1.18-3.10-hacks I need to return to that work as a high priority as soon as current work is done, so am filing and accepting this bug so we can refer to that work and track it.
We'll keep this around as a place holder in case we later decide to resurrect. After recent discussions, we will not be working to move EMGD forward beyond the 3.8 kernel. Marking as WONTFIX.
I went ahead and did this - patches submitted to the linux-yocto list.
