A possible performance enhancement for kernel and module processing would be to remove various files that will not be used when building or processing kernel items. Such as removing arch arm, ppc, and mips when building an ia32 kernel.
This didn't show as much performance gain as hoped. Moving to 1.7 so it can be revisited.
The recent kernel build process changes basically mean this issue is obsolete, marking as such.
Marking this as verified as per last comment.
