1. open eclipse from a terminal and create a bitbake commander project
2. create a new recipe (custom or using a source package:ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/m4/m4-1.4.9.tar.gz)
3. Inspect the console


RESULTS
3. the following messages appear in the console:

java.lang.NullPointerException
	at org.yocto.bc.bitbake.BBSession.checkValidAndLock(Unknown Source)
	at org.yocto.bc.bitbake.BBSession.size(Unknown Source)
	at org.yocto.bc.bitbake.BBRecipe.initialize(Unknown Source)
	at org.yocto.bc.ui.editors.bitbake.BBVariableTextHover$LoadRecipeJob.run(Unknown Source)
	at org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:53)

The recipe is created, but the error messages still appear in the console.

I do not received a null pointer excep when creating a new recipe in eclipse. Checked it with AlexG, and he told me that if he founds again this error, he will reopened it.
