I have identified the issue and also found the patch for it in master: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=c8879e23ab19af1e74c09310d33d3c7c519f63b7 The problem seems to be with the packages downloaded from the linuxfoundation site. The description of the issue can be found in the patch commit message. This was initially discovered during 1.5 M3 RC1 Full Pass testing but a bug was never opened.
Tested the patch mentioned by cherry-picking onto 1.4.3 RC1 (dylan:7ab82abcad9ede847c42c01d2a4f4c2c18877e6f) it and it fixes the issue.
