=>Testing Environment: Blacksand Image from http://yoctobuild01.jf.intel.com/milestone/20101218-1/atom-pc/x86_32/poky-image-sdk-live-atom-pc-20101219075629.hddimg.bz2 =>Bug Description: System cannot enter S3 standby mode =>Reproduce Steps: 1.Launch the terminal. 2.Run command "echo mem > /sys/power/state" to make system into S3 mode 3.Then find system is still live and sometimes X window will be black.
The following: # echo mem > /sys/power/state Works on my n450 board for both the minimal and sato live images fom bernard. I tried from serial console on minimal and from the graphical terminal. Each returned to the previous state by pressing the power switch.
S3 still does not work with v1.0 RC4 image, http://autobuilder02.pokylinux.org/n450-bernard/nightly/20110319-1/machines/n450/x86_32/. The commit information: 82af8b9fb6d6d1439943fd15b8a75c0e663e4a45(Poky/Bernard)
Please specify the exact image you tested with. ie: http://autobuilder02.pokylinux.org/n450-bernard/nightly/20110319-1/machines/n450/x86_32/poky-image-sato-live-n450-20110319105742.hddimg.bz2 I'll test this image on my n450 and see.
All blacksand bugs should be assigned to me from now on.
This command worked for me 3 consecutive times: # echo mem > /sys/power/state The screen goes black, the port 80 display turns off, and clicking the power switch brings it back. I'm concerned there may be some problems with the n450 boards as Tom has also experienced differences in behavior from my boards. Can you report the following for your board: 1) bios version 2) lspci 3) /proc/cpuinfo 4) board rev (near the top near the module just before the Copyright)
Hi Darren, The same image, http://autobuilder02.pokylinux.org/n450-bernard/nightly/20110319-1/machines/n450/x86_32/poky-image-sato-live-n450-20110319105742.hddimg.bz2, does not work on my machine. Detailed information of the board is as below: (In reply to comment #5) > This command worked for me 3 consecutive times: > # echo mem > /sys/power/state > The screen goes black, the port 80 display turns off, and clicking the power > switch brings it back. > I'm concerned there may be some problems with the n450 boards as Tom has also > experienced differences in behavior from my boards. > Can you report the following for your board: > 1) bios version BIOS information Core Version: 4.6.4 Project Version: DEBUG_CACDB050 Build Data: Apr 8 2010 > 2) lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Pineview DMI Bridge 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Pineview Integrated Graphics Controller 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Pineview Integrated Graphics Controller 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82567V-3 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 04) 00:1a.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 04) 00:1a.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 (rev 04) 00:1a.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 (rev 04) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 04) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 04) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 (rev 04) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 04) 00:1c.4 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 5 (rev 04) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 04) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 04) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 04) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 (rev 04) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f4) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801HEM (ICH8M) LPC Interface Controller (rev 04) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA IDE Controller (rev 04) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 04) 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection > 3) /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 28 model name : Genuine Intel(R) CPU @ 1.66GHz stepping : 10 cpu MHz : 1666.696 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 10 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts aperfmperf pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr pdcm movbe lahf_lm bogomips : 3333.39 clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 32 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: > 4) board rev (near the top near the module just before the Copyright) board rev: 1.23.1109
I have a later BIOS version on my board which successfully enters S3. I'll see if I can find a firmware update. In the mean time, can you check the following BIOS settings and see if yours differ from mine? C-States [Enabled] Enhanced C-states [Enabled] Max C state [C4] Hard C4E [Enabled] C4 Exit Timing [Slow] C-state POPDOWN [Enabled] C-state POPUP [Enabled] ACPI 3.0 T-States [Enabled] My Board reads: LC1 Board Rev B Copyright(C) 2010 I'm not sure how to compare that to "1.23.1109". Did you find that printed on the board?
I spoke with Johan and he's surprised at how old the BIOS is on the board in PRC. We're discussing in an external email dialog. Will report back with findings.
Waiting to see if new firmware fixes this
After upgrade the BIOS and firmware of blacksand, S3 could work without problem now. So mark the bug as fixed.
Verify the bug as fixed.
