Description Kevin Tian 2011-01-06 16:11:44 UTC
now there's no doc about swabber usage, like how to activate it, how to interpret the report, etc.
Comment 1 Scott Rifenbark 2011-02-24 05:27:42 UTC
This needs to be researched. At one point it was suggested that WR should provide this documentation. I sent a feeler out for that solution and got no response. Target Milestone should be 1.1 but I can't set it.

Here's some information that should help:

The existing swabber documentation is probably a good place to start. You can find that here:
http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/swabber/tree/README

Some other things that are specific to Yocto:

- to enable swabber processing in Yocto, local.conf says this:
# include 'image-swab' to perform host system intrusion detection

- build times might be three times longer

- you'll find output in:
tmp/log/swabber/

I think that's it, though.
Comment 3 Scott Rifenbark 2011-08-17 16:12:47 UTC
No time to create prior to the 1.1 release. I have changed the status back to ACCEPTED.
Comment 4 Scott Rifenbark 2011-08-23 17:18:31 UTC
Post 1.1. This is an enhancement.
Comment 5 Scott Rifenbark 2012-04-24 23:02:13 UTC
I don't know how to categorize this one. It does not fit in any manual at this point.
Comment 6 Jessica 2012-05-01 16:26:12 UTC
We need to have swabber work first
Comment 7 Richard Purdie 2012-11-12 16:25:01 UTC
swabber doens't work. No point in documenting it until it does.
Comment 8 Scott Rifenbark 2012-11-12 16:28:03 UTC
Well - I guess it is moot.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Do we have any update on this?

Thanks
Comment 10 Richard Purdie 2013-03-25 15:20:22 UTC
No update, swabber is a dead project at this point and we don't have work on a replacement scheduled right now. Its still a good idea but needs replanning.
Comment 11 Alex deVries 2013-03-25 15:44:40 UTC
I agree with this position. Drop it.

I wrote swabber and have not maintained it.

If anyone wants to write a replacement, I'm happy to talk to them about what to do and (more importantly) not to do.

Verified as per last 2 comments.

Please open a new bug if you wish to "revive" swabber :)
