Switching from 1.5.1 to 1.6 I was reading through "5.4. Moving to the Yocto Project 1.6 Release" in the reference manual and it is a great help. One thing that seems to be missing here is the note that ptests are automatically build now by default. As I learned they are just build but not installed by default. The reason why I stumbled through it was that the package gnome-desktop-testing was build -- on a non-x11 / headless yocto distro. A more minor flaw I stumbled in 1.5.1 update section was in "5.3.2. atom-pc Board Support Package (BSP)". Reading through it it gave me the impression that Atom CPUs are 32bit -- yet I know that there are 64bit Atoms (and we use the x86-64 build for the 64bit Atom): Maybe changing the following sentence from "Additionally, a genericx86-64 BSP has been added for 64-bit systems." could to "Additionally, a genericx86-64 BSP has been added for 64-bit Atom systems." would be helpful for other users.
Hi, I have updated the manual in both suggested spots. Because the issue was found in the "current" set of docs, which is 1.6, I made and published the change in several areas based on the current roadmap of Yocto Project releases. You can see the fixes here: http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.6/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#migration-1.6-package-test-ptest http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.6/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#migration-1.5-atom-pc-bsp These changes will also show up in the "latest" set of manuals, which are under development as well as any future point releases for YP 1.6. Please look over the changes and if there are no issues I will mark the bug RESOLVED. Scott
I think these changes will help other users. Thanks. :)
Hi, I am marking the issue as RESOLVED and setting the documentation flag to "Done". Thanks, Scott
