Created attachment 2008 [details] Shell script to demonstrate failure The do_populate_sdk task fails if PACKAGE_CLASSES contains only "package_deb". Originally, we thought this was bug 6047, but the source ("daisy:232af2ec04fefaa286804f0d646a77989c47da1e") with which we demonstrate this bug already has the referenced fixes. To reproduce from scratch, execute the attached bash shell script, "package_deb_fail.sh". The script: 1. Checks out a fresh clone of "poky" 2. Switches to the "daisy" branch 3. Picks up the build environment 4. Modifies the local.conf to set PACKAGE_CLASSES to "package_deb" 5. Invokes "bitbake core-image-minimal -c populate_sdk" to show the failure. The failure capture will be attached as file "result.txt". The failure occurs in the very last task, do_populate_sdk, where it appears that the apt-sdk configuration was incorrect. However, it may also be that the needed .deb files for creating the SDK installer are missing or in the wrong location. This failure was first encountered in our development branch with a development host of Debian 7.5, then shown to happen with core-image-sato on the master branch, and finally with core-image-minimal on the daisy branch on an "approved" development host (Ubuntu-12.04, as documented in the attachment).

I've tried and I cannot seem to reproduce this. Could you share: Logfile of failure stored in: /home/khays/poky/build/tmp/work/qemux86-poky-linux/core-image-minimal/1.0-r0/temp/log.do_populate_sdk.28839 please? I'd also be interested in a list of all the files under tmp/deplop/deb (find -type f tmp/deploy/deb) Are you using an sstate feed with this build? I'm guessing not from the reproduction steps but wanted to check.

Not using an sstate feed.
Thanks for the logs. I'm starting to suspect this only happens on 32 bit builds and not 64 bit ones...
Confirmed, I could reproduce with SDKMACHINE=i686. I've sent out a patch "populate_sdk_deb: Fix non x86_64 SDK builds" which applies to both master and daisy which fixes the problem.
