Some powered USB hubs feed power to the MinnowMax back through the USB port. This does not cause the MinnowMax to power on. However if it's already powered on, removing the MinnowMax's power adapter will not cause it to shut down. Instead, it will continue running happily on power from the USB hub. This works with either the USB 2 or USB 3 port. I have no idea how it would behave if some load were placed on the MinnowMax-- perhaps forcing the CPU into a higher clock/power state would cause it to run out of power and reset. This was with a dual-core A0 board, although A1s probably have the same problem. The specific USB hub tested was this one: http://www.amazon.com/iXCC-Firmware-backwards-compatibility-External/dp/B00GLJLXJG/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1403198448&sr=8-10&keywords=ixcc+usb+3
Assigning this to David to fix in a future version of MinnowBoard-MAX. Adding John to the CC list.
