When a MAX gets to the point of booting over the network all that's displayed is: ._ and a long timeout for that to clear. There's no real indication of *WHAT* it's actually doing. It would be nice if we could add: Attemping Network Boot (this takes <timeout> seconds to try)._ to the message so that it's clear to the users what's going on
explicitly forcing a network boot I got . <pause> .. <pause> then a network boot failure with 0.73.
From 0.73 source, define NETWORK_IP6_ENABLE in bld_vlv.bat which pulls in NetworkPkg/UefiPxeBcDxe/UefiPxeBcDxe.inf. This more modern PXE code has more user friendly message. >>Start PXE over IPv4..
Thanks. We just enabled IPV6, which would show the friendly message. It will be available in 0.75 release.
Created attachment 2273 [details] friendly message"Start PXE Over IPv4 or IPv6" Attachment is test image with show friendly message "Start PXE over IPv4 or IPv6".
Minor nit-pick, I'd love to see some sort of not-dead indicator while it's trying to do the booting (just printing a '.' every so often would be fine), but this is a lot clearer in 0.76
We are no longer tracking in Yocto Project Bugzilla MinnowBoard and MinnowBoard-MAX HW and firmware bugs.
