A regression seems to have been found in 1.6 to do with curl and fetching from https via gnutls. This suggests to me we ought to enable curl's test suite using ptest and have it run regularly.

Implementation in progress.

This enhancement poses a lot of challenges:
1. there is a stunnel ptest incompatatibility that needs to be resolved;
2. the ptests are dependent on bash. My intention is to de-bash this, if possible;
3. There is an extensive lost of build-time and run-time dependencies added to the original curl recipe if ptest will be supported (some of those dependencies are heavy ones.)

stunnel-based tests will be set to off for now, as stunnel is not part of oe-core and we want to avoid having external dependencies.

Although most part of the functionality is implemented for this feature, the state of networking in qemu machines makes the curl tests very hard to set up in an automated manner.
YP autobuilders machines are behind a network proxy, so moreover the curl tests will be non-functional.
As such, this feature will be completed in 1.9M2 stage of the project, after qemu machines will get proper networking functionality.

Patches were submitted some time ago but never merged, so it shouldn't be too difficult to rebase those to current master.
