Description Cristian Iorga 2015-03-18 15:20:29 UTC
For 1.9 release or beyond, BlueZ 5.xx should be used as the default Bluetooth stack.
Most probably, BlueZ 4.xx will be removed or moved out of oe-core.
Comment 1 Cristian Iorga 2015-03-30 14:38:51 UTC
At least for 1.9 Yocto Project release, the actual mechanism of switching between BlueZ4.x and BlueZ5.x will be kept.
However, important default changes will be made:
1. via DISTRO_FEATURES, BlueZ will be the default Bluetooth stack.
2. BlueZ4.x will be moved out of OpenEmbedded Core and into meta-oe, meta-connectivity section.
3. BlueZ4.x will be considerate obsolete, no new functionality bugs will be opened or accepted against it.

Sounds good to me.
Comment 3 Ross Burton 2015-03-30 14:50:27 UTC
Did you mean "BlueZ 5" in point 1? :)

Sounds good to me though.
Comment 4 Cristian Iorga 2015-03-30 14:53:52 UTC
Here I stand corrected, in point 1, it is BlueZ 5.x.
Comment 5 Cristian Iorga 2015-03-30 15:24:42 UTC
