Testing Env: Host: Ubuntu 10.10 x86_64 Kernel: 2.6.35-25-generic qemuxarm sato image from weekly build 20110217 http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/nightly/20110217-1/qemu/qemuarm/poky-image-sato-qemuarm-20110218041736.rootfs.ext3 In this sato image, running 'zypper search package' command would meet warning. For example, running "zypper search avahi" : ############## root@qemuarm:~# zypper search avahi Can't exec '/usr/bin/uuidgen' (No such file or directory). Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... S | Name | Summary | Type --+------------------+---------------------------------------------------+-------- i | avahi-daemon | Avahi IPv4LL network address configuration daemon | package i | libavahi-client3 | Avahi IPv4LL network address configuration daemon | package i | libavahi-common3 | Avahi IPv4LL network address configuration daemon | package i | libavahi-core7 | Avahi IPv4LL network address configuration daemon | package i | libavahi-glib1 | Avahi IPv4LL network address configuration daemon | package root@qemuarm:~# ################# There is no 'uuidgen' under /usr/bin/ directory.
This issue also occurs on qemumips sato. Image location: http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/nightly/20110226-1/qemu/qemumips/ root@qemumips:~# zypper search avahi Can't exec '/usr/bin/uuidgen' (No such file or directory). I have submitted a couple of patches to fix this to the poky mailing list (https://lists.yoctoproject.org/pipermail/poky/2011-March/004122.html) on the assumption that zypper really does need uuidgen.
