Comment 1 Ed Bartosh 2015-07-22 09:22:21 UTC
WIC does this already for syslinux and grub bootloaders.
I need more detailed info.

Reasigning to Igor to provide more details, or confirm that this is resolved.
Comment 3 Igor Stoppa 2015-07-24 09:45:21 UTC
u-bbot is the bootloader needed
Comment 4 Igor Stoppa 2015-07-24 09:46:26 UTC
u-boot, of course, typo
Comment 5 Igor Stoppa 2015-08-13 11:38:06 UTC
It turned out that U-Boot doesn't support mbr mode, since it has a different method to support non-EFI x86 devices.

Closing this issue for now, I'll open a new one in case the method I mentioned requires support from wic.
Comment 6 Daniel Istrate 2015-09-09 15:35:25 UTC
Not a valid issue according to comment 5.
