Description Lucian Musat 2015-11-18 09:53:00 UTC
The search feature of bugzilla is not working properly. For example I try to find an older bug that contained this piece of string "CONFIG_EXT4_USE_FOR_EXT23". I click search on the upper left corner, put the string in the "Summary" box, with the default option "Contains all of the strings" and hit search. Zarro Boogs found. It actually doesn't matter what option I choose for the Summary box, it will not find anything.

As a workaround: Click "Detailed Bug Information" and enter the search string in the "Comment" section (or other part that I have tot try and remember) then click search and it finds it now. (https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6820).

The normal way of searching used to work, but it doesn't for a while now.

Er - "CONFIG_EXT4_USE_FOR_EXT23" doesn't appear in the summary for bug 6820 though - the summary is effectively the title of the bug. The "description" in which it *is* contained counts as a comment as far as Bugzilla is concerned; I think that explains the behaviour here.

As for "normal way of searching", FWIW if I use the top-of-page search box with this string, the results do contain bug 6820.

Right, it makes sense. This bug cat be closed then, but I just want to point out that the advanced search used to look into the comments too by default in the past.
Comment 3 Paul Eggleton 2015-11-19 09:03:31 UTC
Hmm, I can't say I'd noticed that myself, but it's possible.

I'm closing the bug as you suggest in any case.
