Bitbake can do typo checking, for example:
$ bitbake opkg-util
ERROR: Nothing PROVIDES 'opkg-util'. Close matches:
  opkg-utils
  lib32-opkg-utils
  pm-utils


But it can't check whether the input is a PACKAGE, for example:
$ bitbake dhcp-client
ERROR: Nothing PROVIDES 'dhcp-client'

It would be better if it can show:
 Close matches:
   dhcp
