When trying to install image on NUC6i5sYH, after grub options then the machine is not displaying anything on screen. However the image can be booted without issues. Not exactly sure what the failure here is, if the installed image can be booted after using the install option is this a bug? Which image is bootable after, the image from USB or the newly installed disk image. Can you please describe more clearly what you mean, I know that installer is very simple, meaning it should confirm which disk you are installing to on the system and then completes the installation.

Hi Saul, Sure, this image -> http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/releases/yocto-2.1_M2.rc3/machines/genericx86-64/core-image-sato-sdk-genericx86-64.hddimg can't be installed on NUC6i5sYH. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect the USB with the burned image to the HW (NUC6i5sYH) 2. Select "install" from grub option Expected Result: The installation should be completed after this selection. Actual Result: Anything is being displayed on screen after this selection. Note: When I described that you can properly boot the image, I mean that you can select properly "boot" option from grub and the yocto image is launched successfully, however you can't install it on the hardware. Let me know if you need more information. Regards, Francisco
The Gen6 (Skylake) Nuc only has preliminary graphics support thus far. Try adding i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 to your kernel command lines and see if anything changes. The Gen6 Nuc we have successfully boots and shows output with that enabled.

Hi, I tried this option and the image was installed successfully.
Hi, one more comment. After the image was installed, I tried to launch it, without success. Then I need to add again "i915.preliminary_hw_support=1" on grub. In order to boot the installed image.
This is expected behavior with a 4.1.x kernel. It is no longer preliminary in 4.4, so it should work without any modification once genericx86-64's PREFERRED_VERSION gets bumped. In the long term, we have a few options for 4.1: 1) Add CONFIG_DRM_I915_PRELIMINARY_HW_SUPPORT=y to the kernel configs. 2) Add i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 to the kernel command line. 3) Not support Skylake graphics by default until 4.4. Any suggestions?
CONFIG_DRM_I915_PRELIMINARY_HW_SUPPORT=y has been added to the common-pc BSPs in the yocto-kernel-cache, bringing preliminary Skylake graphics support to 4.1 kernels. We are now awaiting linux-yocto SRCREV updates.
This has been fixed upstream.
