Hob has been removed from BitBake, but the build appliance still refers to it. We need a quick fix for M4, which is probably just to put you into a shell rather than launching Hob.
Since BA needs to modified, it would make sense to include some additional changes: 1. There is no way to determine to which Yocto commit a build appliance corresponds to. So we may have several Build Appliances of identical name but with different contents. (I suggest putting SRCREV into environment variables and/or reflect SRCREV in the file name, we already put stuff into .basrc) 2. The kernel is not configured with IO statistics enabled, this should be fixed. Otherwise we always get a warning saying that. 3. Probably most controversial: Do NOT download the DL_DIR, in other words remove cp -RpL ${DL_DIR}/* ${IMAGE_ROOTFS}/home/builder/poky/build/downloads/ This will have two advantages: A. The resulting size will be significantly smaller ~300MB vs 4.8GB. To keep the size less than 4GB is somewhat important as FAT file system (on a USB flash drive for example) cannot handle files over 4GB. B. The contents of DL_DIR are a moving target. Auto Builder uses a single shared DL_DIR, so I think we may end up with stuff that we don't need. 4. After the build of BA is finished, we end up with 80GB+ of unneeded files each time we build BA. So if we repeat building BA, we run out of disk space quickly.
The HOB dependency was removed in this commit: https://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=8ea5cdc77633831a34aeb09ccd7592b3a5ecbd3d by Joshua Lock There was an additional improvement (optional inclusion of downloaded sources): https://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=09eab6b992c9ef1885ccfd6740c95b66df7c2809 (also by Joshua Lock) So I am setting the status to RESOLVED/FIXED
This bug is verified, the HOB dependency was removed.
