To update graphic and media recipes in meta-intel with the (candidate) version of 2016Q1 Graphic Release. Note: Some components are actually in OE and we will forward information to maintainers as heads up.

3 patches have been submitted to meta-intel mailing list. I have notified maintainer of components in OE in a mail too.
Maintainer confirmed that three components in OE are not necessarily updated this along with what in meta-intel.

Tests in intel-gpu-tool (IGT): From some investigation today, I don't think ptest includes intel-cpu-tool now. There actually should be another work before we can hook it with ptest. The IGT test structure is based on piglit and piglit has an\ igt py file to call built test apps in IGT. The two projects work together. But the piglit in OE is too old to run tests even with the current 1.13 IGT: () build IGT into sato image, in local.con: IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " piglit intel-gpu-tools-tests intel-gpu-tools-benchmarks intel-cpu-tools" () on target, we have to copy test-list.txt back to IGT dir: # export IGT_TEST_ROOT=/usr/libexec/intel-gpu-tools/ # cd /usr/libexec/intel-gpu-tools/ # cp /usr/share/intel-gpu-tools/test-list.txt . # piglit run igt /tmp/result Now IGT hits first problem. It cannot find test plan. This is because OE's old piglit expects single-tests.txt and multi-tests.txt but IGT already changed them into single test-list.txt for a newer change in pi\ glit which consolidates two into one test file. # cp test-list.txt single-tests.txt # cp test-list.txt multi-tests.txt # piglit run igt /tmp/result Now it starts running but fails at command "command dmesg --level". this is because busybox dmesg on target doesn't support that usage. I don't find any argument in CLI to disable it either. At this step I feel \ probably no one ever tried to run "igt" group before(?) Another trial I did is to copy the latest piglit onto target and run igt test. But this approach hits problem missing "six" python module. Another change in piglit later than OE's tip introduced the dependency. It seems we should bump up piglit before we can properly enable "igt" piglit tests, but I think this beyond an updating recipe task. The below BKM is to run "basic" subtests in each of IGT test application without bothering piglit and ptest. () on target, Ctrl+Alt+F1 () Kill any processes of matchbox to release drm. then run: # cd /usr/libexec/intel-gpu-tools/ # for each in $(ls); do if ./$each --list-subtests|grep basic; then ./$each --run-subtest basic* ;fi;done &>igt_basic.log Display content on screen will be changed in test but console will be back once it is done. I also upload test logs for IGT 1.13 and 1.14 as references. Maintainer may want to have a look to see if we can merge patch for 1.14. From a briefly diff, the new failure in 1.14 is in gem_sync test app. Unfort\ unately, we don't have nicely generated html for results by piglit.
If this is a tracking bug, please open additional bugs to track the other components that are not yet updates that are part of OE-Core, these enhancements should be filed as OE-Core bugs. The gpu-tools bug should also be filed as separate enhancement. As you point out it depends on the newer piglit. We do have piglit as part of the larger image core-image-sato-sdk (via the IMAGE_FEATUREUS "tools-testapps"). So piglit will need an enhancement to update to the newer version (for 2.2 M1 release). So a few new enhancements are needed that depend on / block as appropriate this enhancement request.
Saul, Just some update and clarifications: () Jussi already investigated other graphic components in OE based on the candidate version I provided. The conclusion is not necessary to update them this time. () As you know, my patch series in meta-intel for graphic was submitted. () To enable IGT piglit test group in yocto, the first step should be update piglit tracked by https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9356 I think we can have another one ticket to track enabling but the above should be sufficient to close this task once patches to meta-intel are merged since I have found a way to run basic IGT tests in a hacked way not bothering piglit. Results for IGT 1.13 and 1.14 were attached. I don't think new failure in 1.14 is critical enough to block the update work. Actually, I feel results may not be comparable since there are changes in test app themselves between 1.13 and 1.14 too.

As our last discussion in BSP team meeting, you still want to keep this bug open until components in OE are updated with versions not older than our candidate versions. I am not sure when these updates could happen in OE, so probably we will see this bug hanging in BZ for a while. But if you or Jussi want me to update them, just feel free to let me know.
