Yikes. I recall this from last time we did work in meta-demo, I added gtk-icon-theme to the DEPENDS of gupnp-tools and that seemed to work.

Are you using poky-image-rygel? Do you have gnome-icon-theme built? What does your system have in /usr/share/icons?

poky-image-rygel-live

> Do you have gnome-icon-theme built?

It has a populated directory:
tmp/work/core2-poky-linux/gnome-icon-theme-2.31.0-r1

> What does your system have in /usr/share/icons?

root@atom-pc:/usr/share/icons# ls
Sato hicolor
gnome xcursor-transparent

root@atom-pc:/usr/share/icons# find . | wc -l
7149

root@atom-pc:/usr/share/icons# find . -name "gtk-network*"
./gnome/16x16/places/gtk-network.png
./gnome/24x24/places/gtk-network.png
./gnome/48x48/places/gtk-network.png
./gnome/256x256/places/gtk-network.png
./gnome/32x32/places/gtk-network.png
./gnome/22x22/places/gtk-network.png

# find Sato -name "*network*"
<empty>

So the actual image file is present for gnome, but not for Sato. If I recall there is some meta-data for icon themes that map icon names to images.

Created attachment 130 [details]
gupnp-av-cp strace

strace attached indicating icon paths searched (Scary waste of resources!)

read(6, "gtk-icon-theme-name = \"Sato\"\n", 4000) = 29

So the theme appears to be Sato, I never see it parse the index.theme

The gnome directory never appears to be checked.
Comment 4 Darren Hart 2011-03-31 15:54:53 UTC
Perhaps a better answer to the question about gnome-icon-theme:

root@atom-pc:~# rpm -qa gnome-icon-theme
gnome-icon-theme-2.31.0-r1.core2

So familiar: http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-demo/commit/?id=63c308492b3eebd86b280d5501bcace3a3a3b078

and then: http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-demo/commit/?id=d641780ce22d78d30990e98fd0475e464be65ef2

Can you see if the patch in the first link is being applied?

The sad thing is I have been running the av-cp on a netbook for the past several weeks, including rebuilding images as recently as this Monday.
Comment 6 Darren Hart 2011-04-01 15:55:34 UTC
After a clean of the sato-icon-theme and a rebuild the patch is clearly applied and gupnp-av-cp starts correctly. I guess I had a stale build. Will the bbappend alone trigger a rebuild, or does the PR need to be bumped as well?

I think the problem is this patch doesn't increase the PV, so new build don't know to rebuild it.

That seems likely.
