stat fails to compile with compiler flags which elevate common string formatting issues into an error (-Wformat -Wformat-security -Werror=format-security).

No, it's stat_3.3.bb in meta/recipes-extended/stat/

Edwin,

Take a look a this bug:

One way patch the repo is  with this

  curl http://patchwork.openembedded.org/patch/121119/mbox/ | git am

ALSO, and comment out 

  SECURITY_STRINGFORMAT_pn-gcc = "" 

then Change your DISTRO to "poky-lsb" on local.conf.

And launch a build. You should see warnings as mentioned on 9488.
