If I set try to set both INHIBIT_PACKAGE_STRIP and install -dbg package, I end up with un-expected behavior. An example of this is show below, you will see the -dbg version of busybox is now empty because I set INHIBIT_PACKAGE_STRIP. There is no reason why inhibiting the stripping of symbols at a system level should change the behaviour or contents of a debug package. [11:36 ][silv-debian7-yocto-build 40] yocto_build > oe-pkgdata-util list-pkg-files -p busybox busybox: /bin/busybox /bin/busybox.nosuid /bin/busybox.suid /bin/sh /etc/busybox.links.nosuid /etc/busybox.links.suid busybox-dbg: busybox-dev: busybox-hwclock: /etc/init.d/hwclock.sh busybox-syslog: /etc/init.d/syslog.busybox /etc/syslog-startup.conf.busybox /etc/syslog.conf.busybox busybox-udhcpc: /etc/udhcpc.d/50default /usr/share/udhcpc/default.script busybox-udhcpd: /etc/init.d/busybox-udhcpd
So I wonder if its possible to still have sources in a dbg package when INHIBIT_PACKAGE_STRIP is enabled. At least, the documentation needs to be clear about what this variable does.
I don't know why the two would be mutually exclusive.
