Description Paul Eggleton 2016-05-10 03:43:58 UTC
The extensible SDK can take a long time to install, especially when it is based on a larger image or is installing pkgdata for world from sstate (SDK_EXT_TYPE = "minimal" and SDK_INCLUDE_PKGDATA = "1"). We should look to reduce the time it takes to execute, and bug 9367 is part of that, but I'd also like to look at whether we could show percentage complete during this stage and possibly optimise the process if possible.

This will mean digging down into the details of how bitbake runs setscene tasks and potentially implementing a new "light" UI that only displays percentage complete and logs everything else to a file (unless there's an error).

We now show progress during the preparation step, and we've cut out the double execution of bitbake. I'm therefore going to call this one done for now, if we need to make additional improvements they can be covered under additional bugs.
