Tom, I suspect this is a bad build tree or a need for a linux-yocto -c clean, but would you see if you can reproduce or if you see anything wrong here?

The following looks like a likely candidate. - install -m 0644 System.map $kerneldir/System.map-${KERNEL_VERSION} I'll take a closer look at that and if other bits might be missing as well.
