I spent some time yesterday on irc helping someone debug ADT Eclipse plugin issues. One of the problems was they were using a 32 bit VM with the 64 bit toolchain. 

We should really detect when people are using an incompatible toolchain and tell them rather than having the binaries failing to execute.

For reference, that user also hit bug 1684.
