Seems to be the same issue as Yocto 8308: opkg 0.3.0 build requires libarchive. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 8308 ***
Hi, I add the comment to this bug because I was not permitted to edit bug 8308 in product opkg :( I also encounter bug 8303 when I tested ADT, but I found if I installed libarchive-dev (ubuntu/debian) / libarchive-devel (fedora) on the host, the issue disappeared. For bug 8324, the libarchive version is 2.8.3 on CentOS 6, looks like it is too old to make the okpg build failed.
This issue still happens on 2.1 M1
Juro will see if we are keeping ADT Installer in YP 2.1.
Created attachment 2950 [details] ADT installer log; ADT successfully installed.
The new package manager OPKG needs newer libarchive-devel-3.1.3. This library needs libarchive13, which in turn needs the library liblzma5. I was able to install ADT on Cents6.7 using the following steps: 1. Download http://downloads.yoctoproject.org/releases/yocto/yocto-2.0/adt-installer/adt_installer.tar.bz2 2. Download and install libarchive-devel-3.1.3: ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/AndreasStieger:/branches:/Archiving/CentOS_CentOS-6/x86_64/libarchive-devel-3.1.2-57.2.x86_64.rpm 3. Download an install libarchive: ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/AndreasStieger:/branches:/Archiving/CentOS_CentOS-6/x86_64/libarchive13-3.1.2-57.2.x86_64.rpm 4. Download and install liblzma5: ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/home:/AndreasStieger:/branches:/Archiving/CentOS_CentOS-6/x86_64/liblzma5-5.2.0-103.1.x86_64.rpm After this, I was able to install ADT, see the attached log.
Obviously, the libraries must be installed in reversed order.
So this bug is assigned to me. For 2.1 I think we are getting rid of the ADT installer in favor of the standard and extensible SDK stuff. Does this bug apply to the documentation any longer? If it does, can someone summarize the additional host packages that would need to be installed for Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora, and CentOS? Thanks, Scott

Following the above steps, the adt-installer works on CentOS 6 for 2.1_M2 build
Hey, Do we even care about ADT Installer for YP 2.1? Scott

So it just needs to be expanded, i.e. ADT also needs libarchive-devel-3.1.3. (which needs libarchive3.x, which needs liblzma5)
Hi, In the ref-manual, the only limitations stuff regarding CentOS is a note in the area involved with the host package requirements. I updated that "Note" to a "Notes" box and added a bullet for the ADT installation script. I don't know if what I have there is totally correct. Can you look at it and tell me if this works? http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/temp/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages Thanks, Scott

Juro, I should have that note down in the "ADT Extras" anyway... let me work on that.
Juro, I think this will work: http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/temp/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages. Putting the note in the specific ADT part isolates it down. I don't think we want to change the actual package name in the example sudo yum command because the restriction is for certain versions of CentOS right? So we can leave that part alone. The note is pretty clear regarding the version they need to deal with CentOS 6.x. Does this work? Scott
I should really have said something earlier - Juro I know you sent me an email, sorry I didn't reply. Honestly I wouldn't spend any more time on this; it's fairly clear to me we won't be shipping the ADT in the upcoming release. I'd prefer to have removed it in M1 or even M2, but we're still in the situation where we don't have a complete replacement.

Anyway, this bug is filed for 1.9 and also observed with 2.0 so if the document itself mentions ADT, it should be revised accordingly (single sentence is ok)
Right, I guess if it's observed with 2.0 and we have a workaround we should probably fix/document it for the purposes of a future point release.
So just ignore this whole issue for 2.1?
I will get those fixes into the jethro branch then.
Changes pushed into the jethro branch only. Marked as RESOLVED and set doc flag to "done." Scott
Verified it. (In reply to comment #17) > (In reply to comment #15) > > Juro, > > > > I think this will work: > > http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/temp/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos- > > packages. But otherwise it is correct. Hi Scott, I still get (or older) in this page: http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.0/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#required-packages-for-the-host-development-system Should be (or newer) ? Thanks, Yi
Hi, I know this is marked VERIFIED/FIXED....However, I went in and made that change because I did have it backwards. See http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.0/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages Thanks, Scott
