As the first step to support remote cross development from a non-Linux platform, we'll use the changed YP CDT code which allows to access remote files, to achieve the project creation, modification and compilation capabilities from a non-Linux development platform

Forking CDT does not sound like a good idea.

Especially now since Eclipse Luna / PTP 8.0 comes with a generic remote services framework where better remote project access was one of the design goal.

I don't know the details here but see also bug 4362 .
